Welcome to the USPCA Region 2 website. Region 2 consists of canine teams from North and South Carolina.

The United States Police K-9 Association Inc., is a non-profit organization striving for the establishment of minimum standards for Police K-9 dogs through proper methods of training.

Properly trained Police Dogs are taught to do the following:

Search buildings and areas for unauthorized persons.

Track Criminals and search for lost children, etc.

Search for evidence dropped by criminals in flight.

Search for hidden explosives, narcotics, chemicals, illegally taken game and cadaver substance.

Pursue and apprehend, with minimum force, criminals fleeing a serious crime and arrest.

Apprehend on command only and in Protection of the Handler.

Police K-9 dogs, properly trained and handled, give Law Enforcement officers one of the finest non-lethal aids in the prevention and detection of crime.

The United States Police K-9 Association is the largest and oldest active organizations of its kind.

Note from the President:

Time is flying in 2010. The Carolina’s are a great place to be with Spring coming and warmer weather. Many thanks to all the departments that are stepping up to host dog trials. The Department of Energy just hosted our Spring Detector Trial in Aiken, SC. I was not able to attend, but I heard it was a success. Our Spring Patrol Dog Trial is being hosted by Chatham Metro Police Department in Savannah, GA. The information is here on the website, so send in your registrations as soon as possible. Burlington PD will be hosting our Fall Patrol Dog Trial and Goldsboro is hosting our Fall Detector Trial.

We will be taking nominations for Executive Board positions at the Savannah Trial. I have to say with a heavy heart that I will not be running for President for another term. I have served the region as president for 4 years and have decided it is time for someone else to lead. In addition, Eastern Vice President, Bob Hoyle, will not be running for another term. Bob has been instrumental in the construction and coordination of the region’s website. We desperately need someone with some computer skills to take this over for the future. I know there are some hard working K-9 Handlers in our region that want to get involved to continue to make the USPCA a great canine association.
