Welcome to the USPCA Region 2 website. Region 2 consists of canine teams from North and South Carolina.

The United States Police K-9 Association Inc., is a non-profit organization striving for the establishment of minimum standards for Police K-9 dogs through proper methods of training.

Properly trained Police Dogs are taught to do the following:

Search buildings and areas for unauthorized persons.

Track Criminals and search for lost children, etc.

Search for evidence dropped by criminals in flight.

Search for hidden explosives, narcotics, chemicals, illegally taken game and cadaver substance.

Pursue and apprehend, with minimum force, criminals fleeing a serious crime and arrest.

Apprehend on command only and in Protection of the Handler.

Police K-9 dogs, properly trained and handled, give Law Enforcement officers one of the finest non-lethal aids in the prevention and detection of crime.

The United States Police K-9 Association is the largest and oldest active organizations of its kind.

Message from the President:

Allow me to first send out a well deserved CONGRATS!! to Kevin Johnson our new USPCA National President. I know Kevin will do a great job with this position. 2011 has been a good year so far for our region; the PD2 trial in Aiken SC was great as usual. The golf tournament was also a very nice surprise. The competitors’ all seemed to have a great time and the region was given a nice and unexpected check. I would like to thank all of those dedicated folks in Aiken SC and the surrounding area for the wonderful dog trial and golf. Great Job!! The PD 1 trial also went off without a hitch. The New Hanover County Sheriffs Office did a fantastic job with there first shot at hosting a dog trial. I would like to thanks all the people involved who helped make this event a success. I would also like to thank all of our Judges, Scorekeepers, Stewards and Webmaster Bob Hoyle who put in the time and effort that is required to make this region great!
Kevin Johnson and I just returned from the National PD2 trial in Mississippi. There are several rule changes proposed, an online voting option that may soon be available, and a grace period added for membership dues. We will keep you updated with these changes. Due to hard times throughout the country, the board members have approved the use of mini-trials during certain times of the year. This includes both PD1 and PD2 dog trials. If you are in need of a certification and your department is struggling to maintain the K-9 budget please contact myself or another board member in regards to the possibility of bringing the trial to you. Please understand we cannot do 50 mini trials in a year, so I ask you to use this option wisely, some K-9 handlers are in more jeopardy than others. Please feel free to email or call me with any questions. On another note, the region does have some money to host multiple seminars and even help get you to the National PD1 or National PD2 trial. Again, please contact me if you would like a certain type of seminar or instructor brought in or the chance to go to a National Certification. I hope all of you are doing well, please be aware of the heat, it appears summertime has come early. Stay Safe out there!!!!
